Berlin gets colourful in autumn. And it remains diverse. On sunny days the leaves in the avenues, parks and woods shine in the most beautiful colours. But even when it rains, the city is by no means drab. The Tadschikische Teestube serves delicious teas. Dive into the pools at the Vabali Spa in Berlin or experience time travel at TimeRide Berlin.

Tip 1: Discover the Tegeler Fließ

The Tegeler Fließtal is a wonderful natural landscape in the middle of Berlin and a good tip for active autumn holidays. Start at Lake Tegel or walk back to the city centre from the village of Lübars. There's no question about it: It'll be great. On a nature trail you will experience a typical Eastern European swamp landscape. With a bit of luck you will see otters or beavers in their natural habitat on your autumn trip. Water buffalo also call this place home. The city settled them by the Tegeler Fließ to maintain the meadows.

Where: U-Bahn station Alt-Tegel, S-Bahn station Tegel or bus 222 to Alt-Lübars

You can marvel at the whole range of red, yellow, orange, brown and green shades this autumn in the Britzer Garten in Berlin. The vast park in the south of Berlin also offers numerous events and activities for the whole family in and around the autumn holidays, including kite making and themed days related to pumpkins, mushrooms and apples. In November, the children's lanterns light up for St. Martin's Day.

The autumnal forest in Berlin is wonderful: with lots of colourful, rustling leaves. Simply go out and enjoy it. Berlin is a green metropolis. The city offers numerous possibilities for a pleasant walk in the woods. The 3,000 hectare Grunewald in the west of the city is one of the most extensive forest areas in Berlin. It is also one of the most beautiful places in autumn. We recommend the Havelhöhenweg for an autumn trip. Measuring ten kilometres in length it leads you past sights including the Grunewald Tower. Here you have a magnificent view of the autumn coloured forest. Afterwards you can keep up your strength in the Restaurant Grunewaldturm, which serves hearty cuisine or coffee and cake depending on the time of day.

In winter, spring, summer and autumn it is one of the most popular excursion destinations in Berlin. But especially in autumn you can rediscover it. So how about flying a kite in this huge park? Since it is incredibly fun and the wind on the field is so good, the annual kite festival in September even attracts up to 100,000 visitors to Tempelhof. But the park is also beautiful in October: for people and for kites. It's always open till dusk.
