Christmas market in Berlin on 9 and 10 December
In the very west of Berlin, the Kladower Christkindlmarkt with its festive delicacies and diverse stage programme invites you to take a Christmas stroll along the banks of the Havel. Volunteers invite you to the Christmas market on Imchenplatz with stalls to browse and feast.
The southernmost part of the borough of Spandau look backs on an eventful history: it was first mentioned by name as Clodow in 1270 and the Kladow military airfield was built by the National Socialists in 1934/35. After the Second World War, the airport was assigned to the Gatow locality. During the blockade of West Berlin by the Soviet Union in 1948 it became an important part of the Airlift alongside Tegel and Tempelhof.
From bratwurst and steak to soups and Champignonpfanne (pan-cooked mushrooms) to cakes, stollen and waffles, the Kladower Christkindlmarkt offers you a wide range of culinary delights. You can warm yourself up from the inside with Lumumba, mulled wine, children's punch and coffee.
Are you still looking for unique Christmas gifts? Then you will certainly find what you are looking for on the stands of the numerous exhibitors. Arts and crafts professionals offer lovingly designed gift ideas here.
Very popular among children is a ride on the little train, the wheel of fortune or the large craft tent with children's face painting. Santa Claus will also sail up the Havel in a boat with his angels and a large sack full of presents.
A diverse stage programme, with live music that encourages you to sing along, provides top-class entertainment.
The Christmas notion of charity is not lost at the Kladower Christkindlmarkt. The market is set up and run by volunteers and the proceeds go to children and youth projects in Kladow.
Combine your stroll through the Kladower Christkindlmarkt with a visit to the Militärhistorisches Museum Flugplatz Berlin-Gatow (Museum of military history at Berlin-Gatow Airfield) and visit the Landhausgarten of Dr. Max Fränkel, in the Gutshaus Neukladow or stop by the Gutspark Groß Glienicke!
