Infopfad Tempelhofer Feld

Panels commemorating the former concentration camp

Ten information panels at Tempelhofer Feld serve as reminders of what happened at this site during the Nazi period.

In the entrance area near Golßener Straße, the first of 27 panels planned for the future historical trail were set up. An abandoned military prison on Columbiadamm was used as a Gestapo prison from 1933 and also served as the only official concentration camp within Berlin's city limits from 1934 to 1936. On 1 May 1933, one of the largest rallies of the Nazi period took place on Tempelhofer Freiheit. During the Second World War, armaments were produced in both the new and old sections of the airport and a large forced labour camp extended along Columbiadamm.
