Christmas market in Berlin from 23 November to 23 December 2023
Walk under the gigantic Christmas bauble and enter the festive winter world of the Heissa Holzmarkt.
In November and December, the Holzmarkt on the banks of the river Spree transforms into a magical Christmas world for a few weeks and invites all Berliners and guests of the city to the Heissa Holzmarkt from Thursday to Sunday.
Warm up by fire bowls and with a hot cup of mulled wine. First small market stalls offer glitter, stuff and nice gifts and a carousel makes children's eyes light up. Perfect for getting in the mood for winter and Christmas with family and friends.
Opened in 2012 on Holzmarktstrasse, Holzmarkt is a creative village with various smaller locations directly on the banks of the Spree. From wine shops and eco-bakeries to many creative boutiques and community projects, there is a lot to discover here.
In addition to various exhibitors offering beautiful gifts for sale, there is a lot to discover at the Heissa Holzmarkt.
Among other things, you can watch a range of films or listen to fairy tales, admire artists’ work and dance yourself warm to the beats of various DJs.
For children, there are readings in the Fairy Tale Hut. If it gets too cold outside, the little ones can let off steam in the indoor bouncy castle or be enchanted by the magic spectacle.
If the festive spectacle has made you hungry, then you can try out a large selection of culinary delicacies. Enjoy pizza, burgers, raclette, crêpes and other meaty, vegetarian and vegan dishes. Home-brewed beer and homemade mulled wine will help to quench your thirst; make sure to try both!
Enjoy a magnificent view of the Spree from the Holzmarkt.
Drop by on a Sunday to take advantage of the excellent child care service.
After visiting the Heissa Holzmarkt, take a look at the East Side Gallery and the Oberbaum Bridge.
The Holzmarkt is located on Holzmarktstrasse in Friedrichshain on the banks of the river Spree. We recommend travelling by public transport.
