ZENTRALFLUGHAFEN – THF is not a film about refugees, but about contrasts.The refugees living in the seven hangars dream of a new beginning, a better life, and an everyday life in Germany, while outside on the field, just as many residents of Berlin try to escape their daily routines by preparing for a marathon on the former runways, trying out the most unusual modes of transportation, and meeting up with friends for games and barbecues.
Some of them dream of escaping, while others dream of a new and better city. The film documents these different worlds, realities of life, and dreams.
At the heart of the film is Ibrahim from Syria, navigating German lessons, medical examinations, and "conversations" with German bureaucracy.

Afterwards there will be an audience discussion in English with director Karim Aïnouz and producer Felix von Boehm.
