On May 14, Poetry Meets curates the opening of the XJAZZ! Festival with a newly conceived edition: VERSE//PULSE – a space where poetry, movement/dance, and music collide.

The evening begins with the striking presence of Joy Alpuerto Ritter, whose dance permeates the space and sets it in motion. Excerpts from Poetry Meets' upcoming anthology, Togetherness, bring literary power to the stage: Ihram Fazal (Kenya) impresses with expressive poetry, while Elom 20ce (Togo) blends rap and spoken word with unbridled energy.
Natcyet Wakili (with Sons of Kemet, Nala Sinephro, Cleo Sol, among others) sets the room vibrating with driving percussion grooves – paving the way for the soulful, acoustic sound of main act Kersha Bailey.
Curated by Jumoke Adeyanju, Poetry Meets sees itself as a multilingual, international community.
