As a multi-instrumentalist, Xavier Rudd is one of the greats of the Australian music scene, who inspires millions of people around the world with his unique mix of folk, reggae and world music.
Born in 1978 in the South Australian surfer paradise of Torquay, Xavier Rudd discovered his passion for music at an early age. As a child he played the guitar, clarinet and what would become his trademark - the didgeridoo.
His debut album To Let was released in 2002 and took him on a tour of Australia. His breakthrough was not long in coming: in 2004 he reached the Australian top 20 with Solace and was awarded platinum. His often profound, socially critical lyrics and his unmistakable sound quickly brought him international recognition.
Before he released his third studio album Food In The Belly in 2005, he released several live albums and was actively involved in social and ecological projects - from nature conservation to the rights of the indigenous population of Australia. He further consolidated his status with the following albums White Moth (2007) and Dark Shades of Blue (2008), both of which entered the top 10 of the charts. He processed personal experiences, such as the divorce from his first wife, in Koonyum Sun (2010), which was created in collaboration with the South African musicians Tio Moloantoa and Andile Nqubezelo.
In 2012 he released one of his most extraordinary works, Spirit Bird - an album in which he incorporated the sounds of over 30 Australian bird species into his music. Nana (2015) also followed a clear message: In cooperation with the United Nations, an album was created that is directed against any form of intolerance. With Storm Boy (2018) and Jan Juc Moon (2022) he continued his successful course and consolidated his reputation as one of Australia's most influential voices.
Since the beginning of his career, live performances have been an essential part of Xavier Rudd's art. After years of playing with a band, he gradually developed his impressive one-man show:
With guitar, didgeridoo, drums and harmonica - often all at the same time - he creates sound worlds that are unparalleled using a loop station. He has already impressively demonstrated his extraordinary stage presence at legendary festivals such as Glastonbury, Pinkpop and the Byron Bay Blues Festival, as well as on seven live albums.
A Xavier Rudd concert is much more than just music - it is a thrilling experience that connects people.
Between the intimacy of a campfire and the thrilling energy of a festival, his songs unfold an incomparable magic. In autumn 2025, Xavier Rudd will finally go on tour again - with a stop in Berlin.
