In the exhibition, the four artists Vitjitua Ndjiharine, Mona Pourebrahim, Anna Slobodnik and Anna Swagerman show what forms intercultural identities can take in contemporary art. The artworks provide an insight into the artists' personal experiences and emotional landscapes by addressing questions of their own history and identity.

"What are we made of?"
The exhibition features paintings, photographs, collages and films by women from Namibia, Iran, Russia and the Netherlands. Each of the four artists brings her own influences, which are complemented by new impulses and form surprising symbioses.
The interaction and fusion of the subconscious, memories and fantasies are decisive in the works. Inspiration can come from formative materials and patterns. The artists find their motifs in the patterns of wallpaper and tablecloths or traditional clothing, the material of a fabric, the hard edges of a mountain range or the colour contrasts found in nature.
The exhibition focusses on the question of why themes that were already dealt with in earlier art epochs are becoming relevant again today. Following on from Romanticism or Surrealism, "What are we made of?" explores how and where international female artists of a young generation locate themselves in the world today.
