Music by Frederic Chopin, Robert Schumann and Ludwig van Beethoven

Pianist Nala Baik comes from South Korea and began playing the piano at the age of four. She continued her studies in Germany until she received her master's degree at the UdK Berlin. At vivo she presents works by three great masters that will captivate listeners with their emotional depth.

The eponymous "Appassionata" - "The Passionate" is one of Beethoven's most famous piano works and shows the strongest emotional expression of his 32 piano sonatas. This sonata was written at a time when he was struggling to overcome his depression due to hearing loss with the will to live and musical creativity.

The arabesque, actually a tendril ornament developed from late antique models, was transformed by Schumann into a sounding pattern. The delicate melody is reminiscent of Schumann's love and pain in his relationship with Clara. Chopin introduced the ballad, which had previously only existed in vocal music, into piano music as a new musical genre. His ballads tell their story without words in a highly complex and sensitive way.
