Festival für neue Musik von Deutschlandfunk Kultur und radio3 vom rbb

The ensemble Quatuor Diotima is presenting works by Márton Illés, Misato Mochizuki and Helmut Lachenmann as part of Ultraschall 2025 in the Radialsystem.

Helmut Lachenmann's first string quartet "Gran Torso" has made history: "The piece is called 'Torso' because all the structural areas that are touched clearly have the potential to be further developed independently." A good three decades later, Márton Illés composed an entire cycle on the aesthetics of the 'torso' and of course also integrated a string quartet.

The composer Misato Mochizuki deals with natural (and also artificial) intelligence in her cycle "Brains for String Quartet". According to Mochizuki, this reflects her interest in the "mechanisms of the brain and their relationship to behavior and mind." In “ψ” (psi), the final part of the cycle, which will have its premiere at Ultraschall Berlin, Mochizuki asks how the brain is connected to the mind.
