In their new program "There is no Rose - Winter Songs", the "Singfrauen Berlin" combine winter songs that tell of darkness, cold and snow with songs full of hope and longing for light and warmth.

Sacred songs are juxtaposed with lullabies and love songs, and the 35 women - supported by accordion and cello - weave a sounding carpet from apparent opposites that unites spiritual and worldly themes and brings them together into a whole.

Works from the 13th to the 21st century from England, Germany, France, Poland, Georgia, Sweden and Ukraine are heard. On the one hand, a Marian hymn from the 13th century is sung, and on the other hand, contemporary compositions by Tamara Salukvadze (Georgia) and Ludmila Samodaieva (Ukraine) are performed.

"There is no Rose - Winter Songs" is a wonderful introduction to the darker days.
