In the exhibition THERE MUST BE A CONNECTION BETWEEN PRODUCTION AND WAR at red in Berlin-Mitte, the works of the three artists Harun Farocki, Johanna Maria Fritz and Violetta Oliinyk are on display. .

The exhibition, which is heavily influenced by current events, explores contemporary discourse on the use of drones and examines the intersection of technology, labour and warfare through the lens of three artists spanning two decades.

The exhibition features works by the late German filmmaker Harun Farocki (b. 1944 - d. 2014), exhibited alongside two contemporary artists whose personal lives have been heavily influenced by war: It is the first exhibition of works by Ukrainian artist Violetta Oliinyk (b. 1995) in Germany and the first presentation of a series of drone images from the war in Ukraine by award-winning photographer Johanna Maria Fritz (b. 1994).

Together, these works form a coherent narrative that links the production and use of drones and reflects on the work behind the technology and the visual culture of modern warfare. The exhibition invites critical reflection on how the increasing accessibility of drone technology and imagery affects public perception and the distancing of violence.
