Sir Simon Rattles makes his debut as chief conductor of the BR Symphony Orchestra at Musikfest Berlin 2024. The programme thinks Bach as jazz with Paul Hindemith, interprets the black poets of the "Harlem Renaissance" with Alexander von Zemlinsky, and finally marches masterfully into tragedy with Gustav Mahler.
