With Jessie Montgomery's ‘Hymn for Everyone’ and Mendelssohn's ‘Reformation Symphony’, the DSO delivers a concert with a strong message. DSO loud against the right!

Together with singer Barbara Walker and a jazz trio led by pianist and composer Uri Caine, the orchestra takes up the theme of racism with its passion for the murdered civil rights activist Octavius Catto. Catto was shot dead in the street by a racist in 1871. Uri Caine, who is at home in both classical music and jazz, wrote a masterpiece about Catto that oscillates between gospel, jazz, classical and avant-garde.
