Nature and Space – This concert opens the 2025 cycle on the worlds in which humans move. Nature and creation take center stage here.
Three pivotal a cappella choral works of the 20th century illuminate the earth as God's creation: the challenging, nearly quarter-hour setting of the creation story by the American Aaron Copland (1900-1990) for alto solo and choir, the double-choir motet "Hymn to the Creator of Light" by John Rutter (*1945), and St. Francis of Assisi's Canticle of the Sun in the virtuoso composition "Cantico delle creature" by Petr Eben (1929-2007). Finally, "Stars" by Ēriks Ešenvalds (*1963) bears witness to such majesty under the starry sky.
