Emerging as one of the most influential bands from the punk era of the 70s, THE STRANGLERS can now look back on a 50-year career and continue to enjoy record success in the UK and worldwide with sold-out shows and festival appearances.

The Stranglers

Honest lyrics and a highly original sound make up the STRANGLERS' music. Their songs are characterized by a brilliant melodic tone, combined with dark aggression and effortless cool.

THE STRANGLERS will celebrate their 50th anniversary in 2024, another milestone that reaffirms their enduring legacy. With their long history of success and a consistently forward-looking approach, THE STRANGLERS are a lasting force to be reckoned with in this ever-changing world of rock music.

Their unwavering dedication to their craft, their ability to connect with audiences worldwide and their commitment to pushing musical boundaries continue to make them stand out and cement their status as one of the UK's most influential cult rock bands.

THE STRANGLERS were formed in 1974 and quickly won over the punk community with their no-bullshit attitude. Friends of the Sex Pistols and opening for the Ramones and Patti Smith, they were influenced by punk and psychedelic rock. They soon developed their own style, dominated by bass and organ playing, which attracted attention and earned them a record deal in 1976.

With three first albums (Rattus Norvegicus, No More Heroes and Black And White) released in a remarkably short time, they landed hits like “Peaches”, “No More Heroes” and “Walk On By”. At the beginning of the 80s, their zeitgeist-influenced songs “Golden Brown” and “Always the sun” achieved chart positions and worldwide fame. In total, THE STRANGLERS had 24 singles and 18 albums in the UK Top 40.
