Presentation of compositions by international residents. Premieres

With six world premieres on January 18 and 19, 2025 at the Konzerthaus Berlin, the “STOP OVER” event series sets an early milestone in the new music year on the way to a center for jazz and improvised music in Berlin.

The concerts of this third stopover are the results of “STOP OVER 3 - A Residency Program”. In addition to the development and presentation of new works, STOP OVER 3 focuses in particular on the integration of international collaboration projects. Accordingly, artists from 44 countries applied for the residency program, which comprises four rehearsal days and a subsequent concert for the selected participants.

STOP OVER at the “Zentrum under construction” shows what is possible or - better - what could become standard in the future by creating an anchor institution for jazz and improvised music with international appeal in Berlin.

STOP OVER 1 - Improvising A Zentrum” in February 2024 in the Alte Münze discussed the basic idea of a common, identity-forming place of encounter and exchange as a center en miniature.

STOP OVER 2 - A Concert Series” from April to August 2024 at Radialsystem questioned the traditional concert format, allowing curators to realize programs and performances that are otherwise rarely possible.

And now “STOP OVER 3 ‘A Residency Program’. The core task of the center as a catalyst becomes clear here: promoting international networking and cooperation, bundling artistic impulses and translating them into musical, performative and mediating projects.
