“Dying is living better.” STARDUST is a participatory installation with performances. Dying is seen as an act of empowerment, self-transformation and radical care to deal with the social, political and ecological crises they are currently facing.

STARDUST is an artistic meditation on dying and living. It aims to provide insight into how closely connected people are to each other and to all of nature. As people die, they also let the power structures inscribed in people die. This could open the space for a future that is more caring, as well as socially and ecologically just.

Over a period of 8 days, STARDUST unfolds as an interactive, sensory and living installation.

Visitors are invited to write eulogies about themselves, listen to an audio guide (“Instructions for Dying”) or participate in an intimate conversation about dying.

The overarching narrative follows the 8 stages of death transformation in Tibetan Buddhism: earth, water, fire, air, white light, red light, black light and clear light.

As part of the installation, seven performers (between 30 - 64 years old) will perform their individual death rituals. Their themes range from collective burial, letting go and disappearance to healing, remembrance and connection.

On the last day, they perform a group ritual in which all eulogies created turn to dust - a reminder that all people are made of stardust.
