Let's go - out of town. Dark and probably also quite stinking was - far
outside - in front of the Gate 'Oranienburger Tor', where in the machine
factories at Egells, Borsig & Co. the chimneys breathes out black smoke and
it sprinkled sparks in the 'Fireland'.

There were across from three cemeteries, hard to believe - now right in the middle of Mitte, the beginnings of the industrial city of Berlin. But the (mute) film business also flourished. Here, on dry land, dramatic scenes of a ship disaster took place. Hard to believe...
Some people started to turn on (thelight bulbs) light when electrification began. Another experimented with chemicals and pharmaceutical tinctures. In the modest beginnings, it was certainly not self-evident from the outset that all this would lead to the emergence of major corporations.

Of course, that's not all there is to explore. Science is also on site, including the Museum of Natural History. There, not only giant dinosaurs are waiting for visitors, but also other 'stuffed' and professionally prepared animals. Not forgetting the Charité, which was transformed from a 'pestilence house' at the beginning of the 18th century to a recognised university hospital. Which was due not least to the efforts of her famous medical staff. Doctors such as Robert Koch, Rudolf Virchow, Albrecht von Graefe and others researched and healed in this 'temple of medicine'.  The Prussian military, however, is mostly represented with the 'remnants' of the great battles. There is talk of a famous song, of a theatre and last but not least - once again: steam engines.
