This solo recital with the exceptional pianist Christoph Spangenberg brings the music of the cult band Nirvana to the Berlin Philharmonic Hall.

Nirvana on the Piano – An Unusual Experiment

The idea of interpreting Nirvana's raw, energetic songs solely on the piano sounds both fascinating and unexpected. Two worlds collide here: the distorted guitars and rebellious screams of the grunge icons against the clarity and sensitivity of a grand piano.

What would have happened if Kurt Cobain hadn't just spat on Elton John's piano at the 1992 MTV Video Music Awards, but had played it? It would likely have fallen victim to the band's destructive urge. Christoph Spangenberg will spare the instrument, but with all his musical experience – from jazz to hip-hop to techno – he will bring Nirvana classics like "About a Girl," "Come As You Are," and "Smells Like Teen Spirit" back to life.

No drums, no bass, no vocals – just 88 keys and a deep bow to one of the most influential bands in rock history.
