A young woman stands up for her ideals in a society in which law is not the same as justice.

Together with her brother Hans Scholl and other young people, Sophie Scholl was a member of the resistance group “The White Rose” in Munich. In February 1943, Sophie and Hans Scholl distributed leaflets against the Nazi regime at Munich University and were caught and arrested.

The young student Sophie is held captive and interrogated in the Wittelsbacher Palais - by Robert Mohr, a special investigator for the Gestapo. A game of cat and mouse begins in which the two wrestle for their respective truths.

At the beginning of the 2000s, the original interrogation records of Sophie and Hans Scholl, believed to be lost, were found in Russian archives.

The author Fred Breinersdorfer wrote the screenplay based on this, which was made into a film in 2005 as “The Last Days of Sophie Scholl” and nominated for an Oscar.

For the first time, he, director Marc Rothemund and their team also researched in detail someone that history had almost forgotten:

Robert Mohr, police commissioner and, after the war, lifeguard, who, as an experienced interrogation strategist, prepared the conviction of many people by the Nazi regime.

Sophie Scholl is the best-known opponent of National Socialism. Her work together with the other members of the resistance group "The White Rose" is an important sign of humanity and the courage to resist.

"Sophie Scholl - the last days" was created in 2022 as a production by the Barnay collective in the Berlin artists' colony and has since been performed as a staged reading, which has been invited to festivals in Zwickau, Plauen, Greiz and Potsdam and the F-Festival in the Ballhaus Prinzenstraße, among others, and has been seen in Berlin at the Theater im Palais, the Theater Coupé and the Brotfabrik, among others.

The collective has now expanded the reading into a small production and is delighted to present the premiere of this at the Ballhaus Prinzenallee.
