The Smashing Pumpkins

The Smashing Pumpkins are a born live band. With their melancholic, melodic and multi-layered indie sound, they shaped the music of the 1990s. In 2025, they are coming back to Berlin and will be performing at the Citadel Music Festival.

Formed in Chicago in 1988, The Smashing Pumpkins quickly rose to become icons of the alternative music and cultural scene. With over 30 million records sold worldwide, two GRAMMY® Awards, seven MTV Video Music Awards and an American Music Award, they are now considered one of the most influential bands of all time.
Their debut album Gish (1991) is considered a milestone, as are the quadruple platinum-certified Siamese Dream (1993), the diamond-certified Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness (1995), the platinum-album Adore (1998) and the multi-country gold-certified Machina/The Machines of God (2000). Rolling Stone included both Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie in its list of ‘500 Greatest Albums of All Time’.

In addition to their music, The Smashing Pumpkins have also influenced entire generations with their aesthetics. The idyllic cover of Siamese Dream, the legendary ‘Zero’ shirt, the casual vibe of the ‘1979’ video and the darkly seductive ‘Ava Adore’ phase have long since become pop culture.

Their multi-faceted live shows, which are still sold out worldwide today, underpin their status as exceptional artists.
