Free weekly creative offer at the Museum Reinickendorf

The Reinickendorf Museum, together with the artist Jessica Voke, invites you every week to a free creative offer, the "Slow Stitch". Every Wednesday, from 10 a.m. to 11.15 a.m., interested parties are cordially invited to sit together and enjoy the meditative joy of this creative activity.

"Slow Stitch" describes the process of decorative hand sewing with a simple patch stitch in contrasting thread. This communal art form has its roots in the Bengali "Kantha", in which villagers sat together to reinforce torn sari fabrics and make quilts from them.

The magic of slow sewing is that it slows down your mind to the rhythm of your hands and your breath. It can be seen as an antidote to the overwhelming speed of modern life.

This new offer is open to all ages, all genders, all backgrounds and all levels of experience, experienced experts as well as beginners.

Come along weekly and join in! Materials and refreshments will be provided.

There is no charge to attend.

This event is run as a weekly social group and not as a developing course, so participants should register for each date they wish to attend and please notify the museum in advance if they are unable to attend. This will allow someone else to attend in your place.

Register at museum@reinickendorf.berlin.de or 030 - 90294 6460.
