ITO Season 24/25
The renowned Georgian choir Shavnabada returns to Berlin as part of Into the Open Season 24/25 to present a fascinating selection of traditional Georgian music that reflects the extraordinary diversity and depth of this unique sound culture.
The programme includes melismatic compositions, melodious lyrical songs, the Guruli ‘Krimanchuli’ (a distinctive yodel style) and the sonorous tones of traditional instruments from the region.
In 2001, Georgian polyphonic singing, which the Shavnabada Choir specialises in, was recognised by UNESCO as a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
