The Berlin Fairy Tale Days are taking place for the 35th time, this year under the motto "THE WORLD TREE: The Cosmic Order - From Fairy Tales to Fantasy".

The world tree is one of three legendary "tree species". Alongside it are the tree of life and the heart tree. They each have their own meanings and contexts, but are connected to one another through a similar metaphor.

The world tree is known, for example, under the name "Yggdrasil" from Nordic mythology, where it connects nine worlds. The tree of life, as its name suggests, represents life itself. In the fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm, it is discovered as a tree that bears golden fruit. And the heart tree is found primarily in fantasy literature, for example in "Game of Thrones" - a huge old tree that serves as a sacred place for worship and rituals.
