Werke von W. Byrd, J.S.Bach & F. Danksagmüller

Composer and organist Franz Danksagmüller combines a wide artistic spectrum in his innovative projects, compositions and live electronic performances. In his work, he continually explores the connection between historical and new music, between classical sound bodies and the latest electronic instruments.

He works with scientists and various artists on cross-genre and interdisciplinary projects.

For his most recent projects, Franz Danksagmüller combines his compositions with visualizations and film recordings. He works both as a soloist and in various ensembles and performs in major concert halls and at international festivals.

Franz Danksagmüller studied organ, composition and electronic music in Vienna, Linz, Saarbrücken and Paris. His teachers include Michael Radulescu, Daniel Roth, Erich Urbanner and Karlheinz Essl. In 1994 he received the award of recognition from the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science and Research and has won awards at several international competitions.

Since 2005 he has been professor of organ and improvisation at the Lübeck University of Music.

He has been a juror at major organ competitions, including in Haarlem, Alkmaar, Lübeck and St. Albans.

Since 2015 he has been a visiting professor at the Xi'an University of Music in China, and since September 2018 he has been a visiting professor at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
