Schinkel and the reform of the decorative arts in the 19th century
The "Models for Manufacturers and Craftsmen" published by Karl Friedrich Schinkel and Peter Wilhelm Beuth aimed to improve the aesthetic quality of everyday objects and industrial goods. This laid the foundation for the decorative arts reform movement, which was later influenced by England.
The lecture spans the period from Schinkel's time through the era of the World's Fairs to the present day.
