The group exhibition Rushes deals with the diverse effects of ubiquitous screen technologies on daily life, in which private and public spheres increasingly merge.

The title refers to the English term rushes, which in film and video production refers to uncut, directly played raw material. In this sense, the exhibition brings together artists who deal with the materiality of video recording and transmission.

The works presented take up conventional media such as smartphones, found footage, television monitors and everyday objects in order to question their supposed immediacy. They illuminate the rapidly changing interactions between technology, space and politics that shape the present, and use the profane aesthetics of digital imagery as a means of experimentation and critical reflection.
