City in transition - City of ideas

The winners of the 2024 competition for young talent ‘City in Transition - City of Ideas’ have been announced. Under this year's motto ‘Species protection and biodiversity on buildings in Berlin and Brandenburg’, the platform for young architects 2024 called on all creatives to get their unbuilt, unrealised designs for residential construction out of the drawers and off the walls, preferably no older than three years.

The selected, award-winning works will be presented and discussed at a round table talk. The event will be moderated by architect Yasser Almaamoun.

Species protection and biodiversity are becoming increasingly important in sustainable planning and construction. The interdisciplinary jury focused on these qualities when evaluating the submitted works and weighted them accordingly in the assessment.

One of the main aims of the competition is to raise awareness of biodiversity issues among relevant stakeholders in the construction industry. We are therefore delighted to have the NABU Berlin regional association on board as a specialist advisor and network partner for this year's competition for young talent.
