Berlin's legendary artists' meeting place

Brecht, Döblin, Lasker-Schüler, Tucholsky, Reinhardt, Hollaender, Kisch, Liebermann, Kästner, Kaléko, Höxter, and so many more! – Almost the entire intellectual elite of the time frequented Berlin's legendary Romanisches Café in Charlottenburg in the 1920s.

Artists and cultural figures, renowned figures from the theater and film industry met daily at their regulars' tables, but international guests such as Ehrenburg, Canetti, Pirandello, and Beckett also felt at home here.

Mixed with the celebrities were employees and onlookers; the so-called "Tauentzien Girls" were on the prowl for men at the café. Until 1933, the Romanisches Café was one of the city's most popular attractions. Afterward, many regulars were banned from working, faced political persecution, or went into exile.

Ensemble member Carl Martin Spengler and dramaturge Ildiko Bognar bring a legendary artists' meeting place back to life in the second edition of the Literaturcafé im Palais.

The ticket price includes coffee/tea and cake or pastries.
