How people sound and the sounds they make are standardized and judged by society. Choreographer Rita Mazza dissects the prevailing categories regarding our voice and examines them from the point of view of a person whose first language is Italian Sign Language.

The Voice explores the intimate connection between identity, sexuality and vocalization, examining questions of control, solidarity and shame.

The piece, in whose working process questions of accessibility were integrated from the outset, challenges the majority society that sees hearing as the norm.
