The environmental Movement in East Germany Yesterday and Today
"Environmental groups played a relevant role in the peaceful revolution," says Steffi Lemke, co-founder of the Green Party in the GDR and Federal Environment Minister from 2021 to 2025. But what is the situation today?
Are the ecological movement in the GDR and the groups campaigning for environmental and climate protection in East Germany today comparable? Was the environmental movement stronger at the time of reunification than it is today? Why is the movement having a harder time in East Germany than in the West German states? These are all questions that the guests want to discuss with each other and with you.
