Songs and chamber music by Beethoven, Righini and Reichardt with the Wunderkammer Ensemble

When Frederick William II came to power in 1787 as the successor to the "Old Fritz", culture in Prussia experienced a new heyday. As lovers of chamber music, numerous composers dedicated their works to the monarch, who himself played the cello, including Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven.

Opera also experienced an immense upswing and the repertoire was adapted to the latest tastes.

The "Wunderkammer" ensemble gives an insight into the musical life of this king's time in its three-part concert series sponsored by the Berlin Senate with two chamber music concerts (7 August - Mendelsohn-Remise, 15 September - Schönhausen Palace) and a large orchestral concert with opera excerpts (1 September - EMA Church).

  • Hoffmeister Quartet as guests of the "Wunderkammer"
  • Christoph Heidemann and Ulla Bundies - violin
  • Aino Hildebrandt - viola
  • Martin Seemann - cello
