First the Amazon rainforest caught fire. Then the Australian bush. Then Ukraine, California, Greece. Notre Dame in Paris. Then came the coronavirus.
At the same time: Black Lives Matter, protests in Minsk and against the Polish abortion law, Freeszfe in Hungary. Back then, in the summer, all of southern Europe was in flames. Now the whole world.
The same embers that ignite a fire can also be felt in people. Just as a conflagration relentlessly devours everything, revolution is also accompanied by destruction:
In order to achieve rapid and sudden change, it is essential to destroy the existing system. Only the perspective is different: in a wildfire, we are all the victims, in a revolution, above all the actors.
The ensemble of puppeteers and dancers led by the young director Domokos Kovács explores the duality of destruction and reconstruction with an intense aesthetic language. Audience discussion with the artistic team after the performance.
- Duration 55 minutes
