A quirky maritime cabaret evening with Chanson-Nette & Trio Scho

Don't worry, the MS Goldberg won't get into trouble when Chanson-Nette and the Ukrainian-Russian band “Trio Scho” get going.

Songs by bargemen and sailors, sung by the young cabaret artist Isa Vermehren in the early 30s in Werner Finck's Berlin cabaret “Katakombe”, get our audience going and their inner compass spinning. Especially as there is certainly no better stage for this program than the Jewish culture ship MS Goldberg.

But chansons by Georges Brassens, Hermann Leopoldi and old master Friedrich Hollaender also come over the railing with new momentum. Turned on by emotional waves, through shallow and deep waters, in the face of crises and the worrying world situation - but always on course, at wind force 12.

Berlin landlubbers venture out to sea in this musical-cabaret program, but not just with rum dredging and sailor's brides, but with depth.
The Berlin ex-Spreejungfrau chats with Gennadij Desatnik, Valeriy Khoryshman and Alexander Franz, in short, with her boys, about childhood love, longing, wanderlust, freedom, the courage to take risks, lies, safe harbors, figureheads and the occasional blow in the water.
“Don't tattoo me an anchor, tattoo me my bride!”

What's the point of these sea shanties?
It's simple: even intellectuals are allowed to show their penchant for kitsch and get sentimental. Men are allowed to let their macho side hang out. And women? They also like to play the figurehead. Ahoy, high time for this quirky maritime cabaret evening.

HOW TO GET THERE:
The MS Goldberg is located on the banks of the Havel in Spandau, directly between Sedanstrasse and Dischinger Brücke/Ruhlebener Strasse, walk from Berlin-Spandau S-Bahn station or Rathaus Spandau U-Bahn station down to the river and follow the Havel riverside path to the right until you reach the ship (approx. 15 minutes). A path also leads from the bus stop “Ruhlebener Straße/Brunsbütteler Damm” to the Havel and MS Goldberg. By car, it is best to park in the area of Sedanstraße near the riverbank.

THE MS GOLDBERG:
Where does the name come from? It goes back to the town of Goldberg in MeckPomm, where the ship was built. It once transported coal and gravel to Berlin, not so long ago. Then the “Discover Jewish Europe” association acquired the barge and launched a project that is unique in Germany:
Financially supported by the “Deutsche Klassenlotterie” foundation, the ship was converted into a floating cultural and theater venue with a bar, backstage and showroom for 190 spectators.
Since then, music, drama, discussions, literature and cabaret have been part of the program, which “opposes hatred, agitation, anti-Semitism, racism and xenophobia” - in short, everything that threatens peaceful coexistence.
“In good old Talmudic fashion, we focus on exchange, mutual inspiration and mutual acceptance, including of minorities,” says the website.
The MS Goldberg is ready to sail and has already been moored at Schiffbauerdamm in Mitte, at Wannsee, in the Potsdam marina or toured a number of Brandenburg towns on the Havel and Oder rivers,
