Martina Hefter, this year's winner of the German Book Prize, will present her award-winning novel "Hey guten Morgen, wie geht es dir?" at the PalaisPopulaire. The novel addresses the topic of love scamming but goes far beyond the typical fraud narrative.
Hefter intertwines themes such as caregiving, colonialism, loneliness, and freedom into a complex and intense story. The protagonist, Juno, chats with men who fake their love for women online in order to scam them out of their money. However, instead of falling victim to their schemes, Juno finds a form of freedom through these encounters.
The event will be moderated by Marie Kaiser, who will engage in a conversation with Martina Hefter about the multifaceted themes of the novel.
The German Book Prize is one of the most important literary prizes in Germany.
