Max Aub - son of German-French parents, Jewish writer and dramatist born in Paris and raised in Spain - wrote this monologue in Spanish in 1939 while in exile in Paris and saved it through camps, war and further years of exile. The German version of the touching and prescient text discovered by translator Stefanie Gerhold in Max Aub's estate will be presented in a first reading.
