A tour through the streets of KW's past. In the early 1990s, the KW Institute for Contemporary Art was founded in a former margarine factory. Its history is inextricably linked to that of its neighborhood, the surrounding streets and its buildings.
To understand the historical entanglements of KW, we embark on a walk to boarded-up buildings, underground garages, distant domes over burial chambers, communist clubhouses and the courtyard of a collector who lives in a former nationalized factory. The view of a distant high-rise building that overshadows the relics of the Soviet era on Alexanderplatz marks the end of the tour through the neighboring streets of KW.
