two days six groups

Prog Moments 2024 - In their late phase, the Beatles broke with the usual sound patterns and created new musical possibilities. Unfortunately, from today's perspective, we cannot know where the journey would have taken them. Perhaps more classical instruments and melodies would have played a role or their harder side would have gained momentum with ProgMetal. Or perhaps a further development with their own instruments? You don't know.

Day 1

• As a place of sophisticated film, we are excited about Cinematic Prog. What we have already heard proves that cinema can be created without images, just with the help of music in the head. Go on an acoustic SEE journey to foreign beaches with the band and the new discovery Yuval Ron Trio.

• Beaches are a good transition to get to the sea. A strange, curious animal lives there, which, unlike us, has 8 arms. The Italian band that then climbs onto the stage needs this number of extremities to present their music to us. And the much-described ability of the octopuses to change is also a perfect fit for Octopuss. A power trio with an overwhelming live impact, influenced by bands such as The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Beatles. In one respect they do not correspond to their namesake animal: their performance is energetic and hot.

• After so many impressions, we need time to reflect and catch our breath. Contrast is good. This is provided by Crystal Palace, a band from Berlin that is more famous internationally than at home. And with their love of rock and symphonic sounds, they deliver exactly that: harmoniously balanced phrasing. The result: feel-good sounds.

Day 2
• Silent Running o.c.p.r. says an acoustic welcome to the Biesdorfer Parkbühne, a Berlin rock band made up of veterans of Berlin rock history. Self-composed, honest music that gets under your skin (and not just us). They call it OLDS COOL PROG'N'ROLL. Come and hear for yourself.

• Koch Marshall Trio, a top act at the Parkbühne 2023, is coming to Biesdorf again. The heart of the American trio lies close to the blues, but it wouldn't be Greg Koch if the influences of rock, funk, jazz, country mixed with a lot of dynamism and humor didn't spice up the program. Milwaukee's Greg Koch has put the success of his extensive guitar work in the background for the time being.

Despite the repeated descriptions of him as "fiendishly talented" by author and editor Tom Wheeler, head of Guitar Player Magazine, and by Joe Bonamassa, who calls him a "terrifying guitar phenomenon".

• Franck Carducci & The Fantastic Squad, the Reichenbach experience 2024 now in Biesdorf! Short description: Costumes, make-up, psychedelic atmospheres, humor and sensuality. Yes, you also think of Genesis, Alice Cooper, David Bowie and Led Zeppelin. But at some point you won't think of anyone else! Let yourself go and embark on a journey into a colorful, sensual and entertaining musical universe that is open and accessible to everyone.

  • Friday: Crystal Palace, Octopuss and Yuval Ron Trio
  • Saturday: Franck Carducci & The Fantastic Squad (FR), Koch Marshall Trio (US) and Silent Running o.c.p.r. (Bln.)
