Everything Possibbong
The collective Horizontaler Gentransfer (HGT) will celebrate the release of their second album titled Everything Possibbong at the Pogo Bar, with a performance fusing punk, Schlager, and K-pop.
HGT is a K-punk band and a collective art project consisting of Mizi Lee, Yun Park, Jerry Ahn, Seonha Park, Lilian Gonzalez, and Hanseo Oh. Founded in 2022 at the Stuttgart State Academy of Art and Design, their work extends far beyond music production—encompassing set design, choreography, costume design, merchandise, styling, video, and visuals. With their anti-racist lyrics and a dizzying assemblage of quotes, influences, and languages, HGT bridges genres and cultures—from odes to Stuttgart’s pretzels and Viennese chansons to Bangtan Boys (BTS) and Die Goldenen Zitronen.
The Korean folk song genre BBong emerged during the colonial period under Western influence, notably through German composer Franz Eckert, who shaped the military bands of Japan and the former Greater Korean Empire and contributed to the national anthems of both countries. Today, BBong has evolved into an independent pop music genre in Korea, fostering intergenerational exchange and engagement with social issues. This fusion of generations and cultures is also reflected in the visuals of Everything Possibbong: Using artificial intelligence, HGT generated baby photos from the faces of the band members—a visual reflection of the album’s hybrid music.
Band Members
Mizi Lee (Vocals, Keyboard)
Mizi Lee (b. 1990, KOR) works across all media and disciplines to create unique experiences. Sometimes she founds a fake supermarket to print brochures filled with artworks; other times, she screams in a punk band at Berlin’s Kulturbrauerei or in old train cars at Nordbahnhof Stuttgart. She works collectively and across disciplines because she believes that art requires more than a single artist. In 2022, she founded the punk band Horizontaler Gentransfer, producing projects at the intersection of visual art, performance, and theater. She holds a bachelor's degree in painting from Hongik University in Seoul and completed her diploma in fine arts at ABK Stuttgart.
Yun Park (Drums)
Yun Park (b. 1995, KOR) earned her bachelor’s degree in communication design from Hongik University in Seoul. During her studies, she was already playing drums and keyboards in the band Trident. In 2021, she began studying fine arts at ABK Stuttgart. In addition to Horizontaler Gentransfer, she plays drums in Flora and Ufo Snacks.
Jerry Ahn (Guitar, Vocals)
Jerry Ahn (b. 1995, KOR) completed a bachelor’s degree in sculpture and art history at Ewha Womans University in Seoul. Since 2020, she has studied under Prof. Rolf Bier and, since 2021, under Prof. Ricarda Roggan at the Stuttgart State Academy of Art and Design. Her artistic work explores gender identity through drawing, film, and installation. “Mittel” (means/tool) is her favorite word.
Seonha Park (Guitar, Vocals)
Seonha Park (b. 1995, KOR) has been studying fine arts at ABK Stuttgart since 2017. Since 2022, she has also been a member of Yeastweise.
Lilian Gonzalez (Bass)
Lilian Gonzalez (b. 1991, VEN) is a linguist, multidisciplinary musician, and artist. She obtained her BA in philosophy from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida. She then moved to Berlin, where she pursued postgraduate studies in classical philology before relocating to Stuttgart. In 2021, she completed her MA in linguistics at the University of Tübingen, where she is currently a doctoral candidate. Alongside her academic work, she is involved in various music projects. Whether academic, musical, or artistic, her work primarily explores the blending of cultures and languages.
Hanseo Oh (Costume Design, Substitute Bassist)
Hanseo Oh (b. 1994, DE) completed her bachelor’s degree in fashion design and art history at Ewha Womans University in Seoul. Since 2022, she has been pursuing a master’s degree in communication design at HfG Offenbach. She learned crochet in the workshop of the feminist group Femi-DangDang in Korea and now creates costumes for Horizontaler Gentransfer, occasionally filling in on bass.
