presented by Jazz am Helmholtzplatz e.V.
Pina Berlin returns "Back to Her Roots" on the Jazz am Helmholtzplatz / Brotfabrik stage, as the singer-songwriter's musical roots lie in both Turkish music and jazz. Pina Berlin, the stage name of Berlin-based Pınar Tatlıkazan, aims to touch people, evoke emotions, and create connections through music.
If you're wondering what Turkish jazz is and are interested in its international and political history, join Pina Berlin's international quartet of Berlin jazz musicians on June 28, 2025.
Combined with elements of jazz music, you can expect a diverse mix: from Turkish jazz pieces from the modern era to the 1960s, singer-songwriter anthems of the 1980s, psychedelic rock of the 1970s, folk standards, and Pina's own compositions. The band consists of Oğuzhan Altınay on guitar, Maik Kleer on double bass, Alfred Mehnert on percussion, and Pina Berlin on vocals, ukulele, and saxophone.
