Marlene Monteiro Freitas und Dançando com a Diferença
A cool spatial construct, somewhere between hospital, nautical bridge, and gym. A panopticon of figures manoeuvrers through themes such as birth, death, and the exercise of power – occasionally experiencing a hint of affection.
“ÔSS” is an impressive encounter between choreographer Marlene Monteiro Freitas and the inclusive dance company Dançando com a Diferença, in which they use choreography to explore the differences between the solid and the soft, the internal organs and the skin.
“ÔSS” stands for the word “bone” in the Creole language.
The piece explores the bone as a carrier of ancient secrets, revealing anatomical orientation and providing a structural framework for soft and fragile elements. A fascinating phantasmagoria of images emerges in often parallel, rigorously choreographed scenes.
A visually powerful, lush, sometimes disturbing and also humorous performance.
