The organist and cantor Eckhard Manz played a key role in shaping the Church of St. Martin in the documentary city of Kassel as a center for new organ and church music. Since the inauguration of the large Rieger organ in 2020, Manz has had a unique concert instrument at his disposal.

Through the organization of various festivals and concerts, the awarding of composition commissions and numerous premieres of new organ works, Eckhard Manz has become a leading personality in the field of contemporary organ music.

In the Sophienkirche he will combine the latest works by Ignacio Ribas Talens, Márton Illés and Klaus Lang with complex chorale arrangements from the third part of Johann Sebastian Bach's “Clavierübung”.
