Liberation Day - 80 years after the war
To mark the 80th anniversary of the end of the war in Europe and Liberation Day, the Berlin Underground Museum will open the "Mother and Child Bunker" on Dresdener Straße from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Under Dresdener Straße lies a tunnel construction preparatory work of approximately 450 meters from the 1920s. During the Nazi era, a bunker was built in one section, and other sections of the tunnel were converted into air raid shelters in 1942. In 1961, border security installations of the Berlin Wall were installed in the bunker, as part of the complex lay beneath Kreuzberg in West Berlin, while the other part lay beneath East Berlin. Traces from each era can still be seen today.
This is NOT a guided tour! On-site staff will be available to answer any questions. The tour is free of charge, but registration with a time-slot ticket is required.
