NoonSong - Song & Prayer

Impressive examples of Anglican cathedral music from the Renaissance,
Baroque and Romantic periods can be heard in this NoonSong. While Tallis' psalm
composition comes across in the simplest song-like manner (and thus stands in
great contrast to the master's expansive, polyphonic and highly complex Latin
compositions), Wesley's romantic psalm setting is modelled entirely on
Mendelssohn's great choral works.

  • Preces: Richard Ayleward (1626-1669): Preces & Responses Tagespsalm: Psalm 51b Samuel Sebastian Wesley (1810-1876): Cast me not away
  • Wochenpsalm: Psalm 1 Thomas Tallis (ca. 1505-1585): Men blest no doubt
  • Canticum: Richard Ayleward (1626-1669): Magnificat aus dem "Short service"
  • Choral: Johann Anastasius Freylinghausen (1670-1739): Lass mich, o Herr, in allen Dingen

NoonSong - what's that?

Every Saturday at noon, locals, visitors to Berlin, music lovers and admirers of architecture alike attend NoonSong. It is a concert and a church service in equal measure.  Eight professional singers from the vocal ensemble sirventes berlin, led by Stefan Schuck, sing choir music. The repertoire ranges from music from the Renaissance to contemporary compositions.
