NoonSong - Song & Prayer

With the
psalm settings by Heinrich Schütz and Gottfried A. Homilius, the programme
includes works by two of Dresden's most important composers. Both were highly
respected during their lifetimes, but Homilius' work fell into oblivion
relatively soon after his death. Using completely different musical means, they
express the supplicant's pleading call for a hearing.

  • Preces: Philip Radcliffe (1905-1986): Preces & Responses
  • Tagespsalm: Psalm 6 Heinrich Schütz (1585-1672): Domine, ne in furore tuo arguas me (SWV 85)
  • Wochenpsalm: Psalm 50 Gottfried August Homilius (1714-1785): Invoca me
  • Canticum: Melchior Franck (1579-1639): Ist Gott für uns
  • Choral: Michael Praetorius (1571-1621): Es ist gewisslich an der Zeit

NoonSong - what's that?

Every Saturday at noon, locals, visitors to Berlin, music lovers and admirers of architecture alike attend NoonSong. It is a concert and a church service in equal measure.  Eight professional singers from the vocal ensemble sirventes berlin, led by Stefan Schuck, sing choir music. The repertoire ranges from music from the Renaissance to contemporary compositions.
