Plants in Portraits by Albrecht Dürer and Contemporaries
Tour with art historian Lea Viehweger German portraitures around 1500 and discover the plants’ meanings through a rich history of painted, oral, and written cultural references.
In her tour the current 4A_Lab fellow will flesh out the nuanced and sometimes explicit meanings of plants in the 16th century, such as hidden meanings in ‘"Bittersüß" of the plant "bittersweet".
