South African pianist and composer Nduduzo Makhathini presents the world premiere of A Return to Essence: Tuning into the Modalities of Humanness. A suite for jazz trio, trumpet, string quartet, and vocals, the piece explores aspects of “returning” to the essence and seeking that which humanity has forgotten.
