On display are portraits, nudes and fashion photographs that document Campbell's versatility, influence and complexity in the world of fashion and pop culture.

NAOMI - A tribute to the supermodel in the CAMERA WORK gallery

The exhibition comprises photographs from four decades (1986-2017) that showcase Naomi Campbell in a wide variety of ways.

Herb Ritts and Patrick Demarchelier emphasise her timeless elegance, while Ellen von Unwerth captures her dynamic sensuality. Arthur Elgort's reportage-like ‘En Plein Air’ shots show Campbell's natural lightness, while Russell James and Vincent Peters stage her in intimate nudes. A particular highlight is the three-dimensional work by Chris Levine from 2017, which interprets the supermodel's iconic charisma in a new way. Albert Watson's photographs, on the other hand, show Campbell in natural light and surroundings - proof of her unrivalled presence.

Naomi Campbell: an icon of the fashion world

Naomi Campbell has been one of the world's leading supermodels since the late 1980s. She has made her mark on the catwalks, magazine covers and advertising campaigns of the biggest brands and has had a lasting influence on the fashion industry. While there were already successful black models such as Bethann Hardison, Beverly Johnson and Iman in the 1970s, Campbell has continued to open the door for more diversity and inclusion. She campaigned for equality in the fashion industry for decades and is considered a pioneer for black models.

With her unmistakable presence and versatility, Naomi Campbell remains one of the most influential personalities in the fashion world. The NAOMI exhibition at the CAMERA WORK gallery is a rare opportunity to experience her impressive career through the eyes of legendary photographers.
