Book presentation with author Clarissa da Silva

From April 9 to 13, 2025, the Zeiss Planetarium will celebrate the 400th anniversary of the microscope – a groundbreaking invention that, like the telescope, revolutionized our understanding of scientific connections.

During the "Invisible Worlds" theme days, visitors will experience an exciting journey from the microcosm of life to the infinite expanse of the universe through workshops, fulldome programs, lectures, and live performances.

My Wonderful Self

Book launch with author Clarissa da Silva

Who or what is the "I" actually? At the very latest, when children begin to find their parents strange, they begin to question who they are, what defines them, and who they could become. They might notice that they share the same passion for soccer as Uncle Willy, that Mom's laugh sounds very similar to their own, or that their eyes are the same color as Dad's. So, what factors determine our identity – and do we have any influence over it?

"Knowledge Makes You Amazing!" presenter Clarissa "Clari" da Silva reads from her children's non-fiction book "My Wonderful Self - What Makes Me Amazing and What Role Genes Play in It," published in 2023.

In this first book about epigenetics for children, she playfully and at eye level explains how inheritance works and that people are determined not only by their genes, but also by their environment – and even by the experiences of generations before them.

Humorous, vivid, and highly knowledgeable, she introduces the new science of epigenetics and encourages children to shape their own self. Because every "self" is a wonderful being with unimagined possibilities.

Inspiring, entertaining, and full of creative ideas, the popular TV presenter Clari ("Knowledge Makes You Amazing!", "Sendung mit der Maus") introduces children to the connection between genes and personality development.

Following the reading, there will be a question-and-answer session, and books can be signed by the author.
